Perfekt Hunters by Meindl
« on: April 26, 2008, 07:43:07 PM »
Anybody own a pair of these. I got a pair in feb. and i love them. By far the best boots i have ever owned. One problem though. They squeek alot.   I was wondering if anyone knows how to make them more quiet.

I have the Meindl Denali's and they sqeak a bit too. Certainly one of my favorite boots, especially for steep terrain.

I've used the Meindl Mountain Hunters and they have never squeeked, they were awesome boots.  I was just about ready to buy a pair of the Perfekt's until I read the reviews on Cabela's web site, about half the people that posted complained about the squeek?  I used to have a pair of Danners (bad boots) that squeeked and I oiled the creases around the tongue and it stopped the squeek for a little while, had to do it often.

I am having the same problem as well!  Thought they were suppose to be excellent boots and seem to be pretty squeeky!  I am thinking about returning them and getting a diffrent boot, bought them from Cabela's so shouldn't be a problem.  If anybody has any Idea's i'm all ears!

I just bought my second pair of Teton II hikers from Meindl.  My first pair started to squeak as well, but it was only on one boot and it was at the base of the 'tongue' where the first rings are for the laces.

Their return policy is almost "no questions asked", I have a friend that had a pair for a year and they took them back.

Some of the boots in the bargain cave look like they have 5 seasons on them, now thats nerve, I would think a couple of months is no big deal.

THANKS FOR THE INPUT GUYS.  I think i will take them back. Its to bad because I have a pretty screwed up knee and I thought i was going to have sugery to pull out some bone chips but since i got these new boots i havnt had a problem. Doc said those boots must really hold everything together. Anyone know of some real good boots for around $300.? I wont buy anything without trying them on first.

I have a pair of the Perfekts and have never had a squeking problem, did you try conditioning or greasing them?  Very comfortable boots, that didnt need to be broke in.

Great boots.  Grease the tongue area LIBERALLY w/ Hubbards or Snow Seal.... that's where 95% of the squeaking comes from.  It should go away after awhile.  You may need to carry a little bit of snow seal or something w/ you.  A friend actually used some chapstick on his when we were out this weekend.  Worked like a charm and easy to carry for a quick touch up.

I'll be damned.   First pair I wore out never made a sound.  Last pair squeeked to high heaven.  I finally bought a new pair and danged if they didn't squeek too.  Man I love this place.  Other than the squeek they are an incredible boot, but I haven't figured outhow to shut them up.
