Bone, I remember the post a couple years back on MM also, you are talking about the buck that was roaming around near the river right, I believe there were a couple pics or it on the hoof also, different buck than the gold bar buck.

Yep thats the one.  The last set of pictures was it peering into somebodies bedroom window or something and then later that week the WDFW put it down.  I saw him a couple times in the fog while fishing the river.  Amazing......first time I ever associated grey ghost with a blacktail.

There is so many different stories about the gold bar buck.  Supposely he shot the the smaller of the two and says that Mr. Big is still out there.  The only picture i saw was a mounted one.  I tried to search for field pics of the deer and couldnt find any.  I have also heard that is was a Idaho Muley with a blacktail cape. :dunno:  Here is the pic featured in the magazine.

 Last I heard, last year the Gold Bar buck is real and is in fact a blacktail. The poor hunter got so screwed over he gave up on keeping it "public". See thread.
