i picked up mine for 400$ like new. Bought in 1983, one box of ammo put through it and stored.
my buddy picked up a springfeild lightweight operator for 475 i think from a gun show.

It sounds like it's time to get a new gun.

I bought my Taurus PT1911 for $500 new at a Pawn shop. Looked at many reviews and I have run over 1000 rounds w/o an issue.

Not possible unless you find someone that will part with an old used one. Save a couple hundred dollars more, then go get yourself a decent 1911. You wont be happy with anything else.
