Did you injure your head when you hurt your shoulder?   Remember, no question is a stupid question.

NO, honestly, i have a friend who was out bear hunting a few years ago and had a game warden pull him over and check his licenses and tags and he saw some calls that he had on him (which were coyote calls) and the game warden had to ask if the calls where calling for bears.........my friend of course said NO......but asked why so?........so the game warden(a person who is suppose to be knowledgable in all this stuff) told him that when they passed the no hounds or baiting law on bears(i cant remember which) they also threw in a clause somewhere that said that you are not suppose to use any calls either........

My friend asked to see proof if he had any.......the game warden Quickly pulled out a huge Pub, some state law book, not the hunting regs and showed him.......in black and white it said no calls either.......

So my friend will not use calls on bears from know on. But on this website i see all kinds of people talking about using calls to get bears attentioon or to even call them in.....

I would like to know the honest truth before i get in trouble for calling bears behind my house........that and my friend seems to be very sincere about it, and if that law was changed ide like to let him know, because he hunts bears about 10 times more than i do.....

THATS WHY I ASKED!

Now, if you'd said all that in your first post instead of trying to fire someone up, you probably would have gotten a little more help.  I think that EROS stuff must have some extra fumes to it.  Wish I knew where to look for you.  I don't have a WAC book in front of me, at least pertaining to this.

Years ago I had bought a johnny stewart call box for calling dogs and was unsure if it was legal for bears and cats so one day down elk hunting I bumped into a warden and ask him if they were legal for bears and he pulls out this huge bible of a game regulation book and after 10 min of looking he could not find anything that says its illegal. But told me to call olympia just to make sure. I figure if its not in the regs we get and its not in a book that big then I'm not worring about it.

There is nothing in RCW 77.15.245 forbidding the use of calls.

Unlawful practices — Black bear baiting — Exceptions — Illegal hunting — Use of dogs — Exceptions — Penalties.

Why is it that they made it illegal to use electronic calls to call deer, and not elk? Who actually hunts deer by calling them in anyway, other than rattling? I can't imagine rattling sounds on an e-call would sound that good, and most anybody can rattle antlers together without much, if any, practice and sound realistic. So, why would it be illegal for deer and not elk? Makes absolutely no sense.

RCW 77.15.480
Certain devices declared public nuisances.

Articles or devices unlawfully used, possessed, or maintained for catching, taking, killing, attracting, or decoying wildlife, fish, and shellfish are public nuisances. If necessary, fish and wildlife officers and ex officio fish and wildlife officers may seize, abate, or destroy these public nuisances without warrant or process

Does this mean I can't use my clam decoy anymore ??  :dunno:
