that it is Impossible to hand hold a 400 mm lens with a 1.4X extender to get a decent photo. I guess I will never, ever learn! :(  :'(

This shot was Hand held and then extremely cropped out of another photo. :) It is a little fuzzy, but I had to crop the photo several times to bring up just this birds head.

Damn! I like it! That is a regal bird
I can't get a decent pic with a point and shoot from 10 ft without movement.

Dick what shutter speed was that? Doesn't that make a difference?

Great shot of him Dick.    i hand hold mine all the time.  The limitation is arm strength not clarity. :chuckle:

Thanks guys. :) I wanted to take the time to set up my tripod and use my electronic shutter release, but all the good spots to set up on were already taken and I was standing right on the edge of a busy road to grab this shot.
When I finally got to a place that was a great place to set up I found that my electronic shutter release had a dead battery!  :bash: :bash:

Nice shot Dick.  CAnt wait till I can get my long lens.  All I have now is the 70-200mm f2.8 but the 400 f4 is coming soon.
