Funkster, Great Score dude!!! One of the top ones! As for your question on "Having Ones Mind Made Up" it is in general terms like any elk situation that may come up!

On Goals Set for each individual hunter, well, that's a personal decision! We bring it up because there are many hunters who do not even consider the fact that they do not know what they are willing to take that day! This is to be considered on a daily basis not a decision on the beginning of the hunting season only! If a guy is willing to take a cow, great, he knows it & will not hesitate if the occasion arises, this doesn't mean he will not take a branched antlered bull but that he will not pass a cow if given the chance either!

In your case you may want to consider the "clientele" before deciding on a particular elk, the unit hunted may have something to do with decision making & that's cool, at least you've discussed that with yourself "so to speak" you may change your mind as you near the last day of your hunt too. So you see it's nothing written in stone, it's the fact that a guy or gal that knows where they stand on a given day for a particular animal will not hesitate when their golden opportunity presents itself! He who hesitates loses!! We take many hunters out each year & we've found it's a good idea to discuss this with them so we all know where they stand that day! Ones mind can be changed at anytime & usually does! (grin) We presented the Question so ones would at least give it consideration on their own individual hunts! Hope this makes sense & thank you for bringing it up!

Wagon Burner--Here's the exact Question as written on the test you question? (grin) -- "A Month Or So Before The Season Opens The Majority Of The Bulls Will Be?"  After this question a multiple choice is given. The Answer is----- "In Bachelor Groups But It's Possible A Few Will Slip Towards The Cows!

Notice both question & answer, neither is concrete! The question says the "Majority" not every single bull in the woods! (grin) Same as the answer shows not all bulls will be with the cows come Aug. 1st but a few stragglers can be & mostly the juvenile bulls at that! So yes, it's very true as you mention there could be other "loner bulls" not with either of these groups but as you can see this would be way too much to write for a question & answer!  This is why for instruction type purposes the words are limited as is the question although extremely accurate in this case! Hope this helps! Thanks for checking it out!

Elknut, good explanation. That is kind of what I went into the test thinking "all thees questions are going to be general and not the rule"

Thanks for the good family fun, both my wife and 14 year old son took it. My wife only got 8 correct and my son got 7, both spikes.
My son asked "dad do they call it a lip ball because they have double chins" I was on the floor laughing!

you gotta live it.

Raghorn...

14 correct "guesses", considering I don't have speakers on my work PC and I have never hunted Elk before , not too shabby.

I have a lot to learn....
