Lingcod
« on: May 02, 2008, 05:30:02 PM »
Went this morning at 0600 to Point Defiance, 1 Lingcod caught, 29", one shark let go a the boat, probably a 3-4 footer and the biggest darn Dungess Crap I have seen, too bad we couldn't keep it, it was big.    Any one else out in about on the sound?  Any luck?  The bridge, well lets state it got my fare share of tackle, wow.  Drift was fast till it hit slack then nothing no bits etc....

The fishin report at the boathouse said Lings were good :dunno:. Heard area 13 has been good for blackmouth too. Did you do any blackmouth fishing?

Saw four other boats and didn't notice any catches but tough to tell.  Only tried for Lings, would like to get into the other stuff, just have to explore a bit more next time out.  First time out there so, it was a bit of a scouting trip plus fishing.  Figuring out where everything is situated...  So when it is time for Coho's I can regain some reputation..................

I was fishing the bridge on the opener, the two of us caught at least 20 lings with none of them being legal.  Went again last Saturday and just about the same story.  Must be using something the little ones like.  I did lose a couple that took out line and assume that they could of been legal.  Maybe will try it again on Saturday and then headed up to Neah Bay on Wed. afternoon for halibut, lings and rockfish.

What type set-up were you using?  Was the drift killing you?  Hitting everything down on the bottom or keeping it suspended?
