Looks like a young of year drake that has not gotten all of its adult plumage.

That is a strange one, the brown feathers are playing w/ me. I'm stumped trying to figure out what other diver would put out that kind of brown. During breeding time I don't see how his parent got mixed up w/ a puddler - but hey it's possible.

 :tup:  Male greater scaup also have a larger, more round, green-tinted head than male lesser scaup.

Found a picture with the same looking birds.  They are calling it an immature greater scaup drake.

Young Greater Scaup, It can be hard to tell a greater from a Lesser Scaup sometimes, The greaters will have a green tint on the head where lessers will have more of a purple tint, and the Inmature birds will show some lighter colors on the body.

Get it Mounted,  they're a dyin breed!  :(
