So first night was disappointing....
« on: January 27, 2011, 11:23:21 PM »
Second night was much better and tonight was a smelly letdown.  Me and my 18 year old son went down to a real nice area a co-worker told me he's seen three coons at last week.  Cool.  Got down there at 7 pm and it was awesome. Just a nice gentle breeze blowing right down the creek.  I took the light colored merle Bo who had done so well the night before and the 18 month old pup, Rip.  About 200 yards from the truck they both struck at almost the same time.  Bo was off leash and Rip was walking with me.  Bo charged ahead and swam the creek and headed for a stand of trees.  SWEET   :IBCOOL:  So I turned Rip in, who was baying on the leash and really straining to go.  Off he went, dove in and swam the creek.  Cody and I walked another 100 yards and all of the sudden Bo started baying, but it was a strange bay, and about 15 seconds later the clues came wafting down the creek.  #@%& Skunk!!!  Son of a .....  I yelled at Rip to leave and much to my delight he did, came right back, no smell.  Bo came back and at first I thought he might have been missed, but then I could tell he got spray a little on his dog collar and chest.  Not bad but still not very good.  I have some work to do with both of them.  No coons tonight.  Just got done washing him and his collars in peroxide, baking soda and dish soap.  Pretty much no smell left.  Still had a blast with my son!!
