Turkey Hunting near Grand Coulee Dam.
« on: February 28, 2011, 04:00:56 PM »
My wife is going to be running a marathon at the Grand Coulee Dam this turkey season.  Since I don't run, I am looking for suggestions for areas I can go and do a little Turkey hunting over the two days we are going to be there.  Not looking for specific locations (unless you wanna tell me :chuckle:)  I have never taken a turkey so any help would be greatly appreciated.

Marathon at GCD?  Never heard of it.  It must be to Nespelem and back a couple times. :chuckle:  Anyhow, about the turkey hunting it that neck of the woods: I'd personally research public land access in Lincoln County through the WDFW hunt/access page.  Scouting will be the key though.  Good luck.

An hour in a northerly or easterly direction will put you in turkey country.  You can be hunting Rios in Lincoln County (not a lot of public land), hunt Merriams in Stevens Co. in an hour drive, or hunt Okanogan County in several areas.  Not a lot of public land in the Grand Coulee Area.  Good Luck!
Wild Turkey, Walleyes, Whitetails and Wapiti..These are a few of my favorite things!!

Thanks for the help.  Convinced the wife that a 5 day trip would be better.   Hopefully will find a bird during that time.
