Howa? anybody got one
« on: February 06, 2011, 05:41:40 PM »
Im looking for a small caliber bench gun 220 swift 222 rem 22 250 rem 223. Im trying to keep this project on a budget of about 600ish for the rifle. Ive been looking at the howa 1500 vanguards because of the 565 dollar msrp, but i dont know much about them or seen one in person. Any info would be helpful or any other rifle suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks

I shoot a Howa 1500 chambered in .270 Win. Great gun and it shoots very tight groups. Tighter than my wife's Remington 700 or my Dad's 700.

I have two Howa-built rifles...

A Howa Axiom, .223 with 24" heavy barrel and a S&W 1500, .30-06.  Howa (rifles built in Japan) has a great reputation for quality built, accurate rifles... at a reasonable price.

For the Axiom, I purchased the barreled-action and stock separately so, I was able to keep the price under $550.00.  With a Mueller 8.5-32x44 target dot scope and Warne rings (weighs 12-13 lbs), it's strickly a bench gun.

i also shoot a howa in .270 great rifle, can adjust the trigger very easily and it shoots very tight groups. ive herd several storys about how they were being made under brownings supervision or something, if someone can come up with the story on that that would be neat. i highly recommend it. the vanguards and s&w 1500 are howas products as well if you didnt know.
