16ga ??

OK somebody please tell me why it is so hard to find?  I bought a 16ga Ithica mod37 off of here and am now wishing I hadn't only because ammo is so rare...

I'm in the same boat, but its a gun passed down from the gramps, so im not getting rid of it. You can find it online, but ive had a hell of a time finding it on the wet side.

Buy a cheap Lee load-all and start rolling your own. May be your best bet!

I'd wanted a Model 37 for a long time. I'm at least the 3rd owner, it came from a pawn shop to the kid I bought it from. Lotta wear, some pitting but it fits, I mean it FITS perfect.  Just wondering why ammo is so rare. Lack of demand?   Got a 20ga single shot-family heirloom and a Mossy Maverick88 that needs a long barrel...I really want the Ithica to be my Grouse/Rabbit gun

i bet it'd make a comeback if they came out with specs for something like a 3 1/4" chambering that would accept higher pressures than the current standard(kinda like 3 1/2" 12ga has a higher pressure spec than the 2 3/4 and 3").  the fact that we've got light 12ga guns that weight less than a 16ga gun now keeps them kind of obscure(the allure of the 16ga is that it's lighter than a 12 but patterns better than a 20).

It will be interesting to do some serious shooting, not just shooting branches off dead trees, and see how it patterns. The barrel measures 27in (28oal?) from the receiver, no threads for chokes...

we get all are ammo locally in Wenatchee. We either go to the sporting good store and get it or ask them to order some in really it isn't a issue. Been shooting 16 g for most my life. Only thing we have to order off the internet is steal for my dad.

My Dad. God bless his soul. Shot a Mod 37  16 GA forever. I have it now. I love that gun. I saw my dad shoot so many birds with that shotgun it is unreal. He used it for everything. Including geese. I can't tell you how many doubles I saw him shoot with just one shot! I love that shotgun. I shoot a Mod 37 in12 GA and I can't come close to shooting it like my Dad could shoot that 16GA. This post has really brought back some great memories.

my grandpa gave me his model 12 in 16ga, cant even shoot modern 16ga shells in it, new shells are 2 3/4 , mine is 2 9/16. shell get stuck every time. i found some old paper shells at the gun show though. just some shells at bullseye in tacoma.
