No tail included, front to rear paw is 42 5/8. Taxi had a full mount in pin stage and this hide dwarfed it.

Its a  18 pound cat ? Thats a average size cat and would have a body length of 30-32, thats tip of nose to base of tail not paw to paw. If your saying it was 40 inches from tip of nose to base of tail your scale sucked bad ad should have read 40 pounds  :chuckle:

What ever dude, my scale sucked, the white bath towel doesn't measure 48", and my tape was custom made to read 40.5 " for 30" bobcats. Just maybe he is not an average bobcat! :hello: And you are a taxidermist.

I dont think you understand what I am saying to you  :chuckle: I was saying if it was truely a 40 inch cat nose to base of tail it weighed alot more than 18 pounds. A 18 poound cat is an average sized cat and will be 30 - 32 on the form. You can over streatch a bobcat skin to get a BIG number but in all realityt if it was an 18 pound cat it will be about 30-32. If your cat was was really 40 on the carcass, Key Word , ON THE CARCASS, it is much bigger than 18.

Actually he has shrunk since he was tanned, about 5". How long have you been a taxidermist?

Well not all gods creatures arre created equal, the tape does not lie, and no the hide was not streched due to the tannery didn't want to tear it (taxi stated this today when picked up today).

Just a second . I have a tannery tanned bobcat that is "streatched" and is way longer than the carcass measurement. It wasactually a 18 pound cat. Let me go measure real quick so you can see what I mean

My 18 pound Tom dry tanned is 39 on the button tip of nose to the base of tail, and is 44 inches to the tip of the tail. That cat is exactly 32 inches on the carcass measurements.

Thats what I was trying to explain.

Ok your cat grew, and mine shrank. I have seen several cats in my region that are long tall and skinny. You do live in a differnt area. :bash:

Just don't be pissed off at your taxidermist when your lifesize cat comes back and measures 30" nose to tail. Or it could come back 40" and have the GIRTH of #2 pencil. Charlie right on this one. Sorry.

I think he is trying to tell you that based on what he has seen compered to your measurements is that the cat you killed is a biggun. Really don't think he is trying to talk yours down
