Here is a red phased Ruffy that I just finished up.  They sure have some neat colors to them.  John

Awesome work as usual! Just curious, what is the average turnaround for a bird mount. Also, if someone were to kill a monster tom this year turkey hunting, what is the best thing to do with it right after the kill to prepare it for a mount? I'm obviously new to bird taxidermy preservation :chuckle:

John,

I would take my hat off to you, but my shiny bald head might make you blind. Awesome job once again..

Beautiful mount!

Was just looking at your price sheet. . . That mount's base would be considered custom, correct? If so, what sort of extra price tag does one like that carry?

Absolutely great looking mount!

Thanks everyone for the great compliments.  I appreciate it.

Keith, if it wasn't for your expert marksmanship and ability to be one with the woods while hunting, it would not have been possible to mount this bird up for you. :chuckle:  In all seriousness, your bird has some of the finest color I've seen on a red/cinnamon phased grouse.  It was a pleasure to mount him up for you.  Thanks.

Beautiful mount! Was just looking at your price sheet. . . That mount's base would be considered custom, correct? If so, what sort of extra price tag does one like that carry?
Alan, that base is a standard base that comes with the mount.  An example of a custom base would be the rock base I mounted the Goldeneye on that I posted on here last week.

Muley, my turnaround time right now is around 6-8 months.  That will probably change around spring turkey time.  I posted a "how to after the shot" for turkeys last year.  I will try and find it on here and bump it up to the top so everyone can review it for this coming spring.  I have always said that handiling after the shot will sure make the mount so much better.

I was going to kill a grouse this year just to have you mount it for me, I never killed one , couldnt get myself to fling a 10 collar arrow while our hunting  :chuckle:. You do some nice birds John!!
Charlie, I'll get you into bird hunting yet my friend. ;)

Thanks again everyone.  John
