Montana Elk Hunt in 2011
« on: February 04, 2011, 11:16:50 AM »
My wife wants to purchase me a Montana hunt for my upcoming milestone birthday.  Anyone have any good outfitters to recommend in Montana?

I talked to some nice people at the Sportsmans Show from Broken Heart Outfitters.  Anyone heard of them or used them in the past?

Thanks for the help guys.

You'd better have her get you in the drawing for a license then, because I'm pretty sure the outfitters over in MT don't have guaranteed tags anymore........ :dunno:  I will delete my post if it's uncorrect.

mtnmuley is correct. No guaranteed tags! I think the dead line to have you app in is March 15th.

You need to get references, and talk to a lot of them. Don't go by how helpful the guy is, a lot of hunts turn out very bad because of this. I will kick you a PM.

I think it really dependson what you want out of the hunt... that backcountry deal, mentioned above, 30 miles in the BOB...would be a Dream trip for me. I really cant say how good the hunting would be, but the trip would be awesome. As mentioned above.... talk to a bunch of them and try and talk to their references....

Nice Bull LJ..beautiful Mass!!!!

My old man and I went with a guide in the Bob last year and had a great time. The weather didn't cooperate with us so the hunting was tough but the experience was amazing. PM me if you want more details
