well written bearpaw & very informative, i also went to the link & printed the tutorial for myself, my boys & thier friends to learn a little about identification. not being exposed to hound hunting myself your post gave me an insight to the sport and i have new respect for hound hunters. im sure there are many like myself that had no idea what was involved in your passion. thanks for the eye opener.

I recieved a positive message from Senator Morton, it sounds like the committee chairman is going to allow SB5356 (hound hunting cougars) to come to a vote, as you probably know, that's a big hurdle and sets the stage for it to move on if approved.

I think we need to encourage as many email messages as possible to help this get passed by the committee.

Here's the email list:

This may be a stupid question but should I copy and paste all the e-mail addresses into 1 e-mail or do 1 e-mail address at a time?

Hi all,
Bear paw you did a great write up, and i'm glad you responded to what was said at the comity hearing. I aslo emailed to all the listed senators and urged for the passing for the bill. senator Morton and the WDFW have already responded to me with agreement.
 thanks Rooster

 :hello:
Rooster welcome to the forum and thanks for taking the time to write, every single letter counts with the legislators on issues like this.

Some of legislators do not know what the situation is really like, it is our responsibility as citizens to set the record straight when misinformation is used and to let them know how we feel. I should have been at the hearing, I can only hope the letter offered some of our legislators a realistic look at the situation in the field.

Here's the committee email list for anyone else who can take a minute and write a short note of support:
kevin.ranker@leg.wa.gov; debbie.regala@leg.wa.gov; karen.fraser@leg.wa.gov; caitlin.gordon@leg.wa.gov; jim.hargrove@leg.wa.gov; bob.morton@leg.wa.gov; val.stevens@leg.wa.gov; dan.swecker@leg.wa.gov; commission@dfw.wa.gov; donny.martorello@dfw.wa.gov; david.ware@dfw.wa.gov

I am told HB 5356 died in the House, Democrat leadership didn't bring it up for a vote. No hound hunting cougar now.

Senator Morten the bill sponsor sent out a newsletter stating that the bill was held up and not passed by the House. It's been on the radio over here multiple times. Our radio is much different that westside stations, they report wildlife hunting and fishing issues all the time.
