Grandad's Buck (updated with more pics)

After many years of working on getting my granfather's buck it finally happened.  It was taken in the Entiat in 1946. Just over 31 inches wide.  Here is a pic of my great granfather with the fresh mount and a pic of it today, it has seen better days.  My plan is to get it remounted.

Great buck.  Hold onto that wood backer and refinish it and include as part of your next mount.  That will hold some nostalgic value for you.

I was thinking the same thing. It still has the taxidermist info on it.

Very nice.  I too have one from my great-grandfather that was killed in the late forties in N. Cali.  It still has the original mount, which is not too bad considering it's been 60 some odd years.  I've got the photo of him packing it out on mules too.

Thats cool. You should be able to get a new hide for the mount right? Thats if you want to and all. Refinish the board and put a little polish on those horns (yep, I called 'em horns) and you are set.

Cool buck! Glad you still have it. I would about do anything to get my grandfathers big buck mount from the 40's back. Great idea to get it re-done!

I have pictures of my dad's 1st buck...taken in 1940.  It was a 6X4 mulie taken in Eastern Oregon.  He dropped it off at the taxidermist and then got drafted.  When he came home from WW2 the shop was closed up and he never saw it again.
