Goose Down is great insulation.  I've had an Eddie Bauer mummy bag since 1968.  BUT be aware that when Goose Down gets wet, its insulation value goes to Zero.  Unlike some of the newer hi-tech bag fillers.

Miles, golite sleeping bags are just as good as marmot, but there is where it stops. My wife is an insider in the outdoor industry and has seen her share of golite problems. Sure all companies have their lemons, but golite has more, not the sleeping bags but their packs, outer wear etc. Durability is not their mainstay.

Again Miles I am not being critical of the sleeping bag, good choice there but be wary of their other products especially if you are like me. I'm toasting a set of USA made Danners right now. I'll never buy another set of Danners again.

Sisu, thanks for the heads up...I'll keep an eye out for problems, and keep you guys posted.  It really won't get used much in the next year...really only next fall when I get back to Wa to hunt.  After I get back to the states I'm sure I'll use it a little more.   For the price, weight, and compressed size, I just had to go for it.  I actually was on their website to purchase the Shangri-la 5 and then saw this bag...so I researched the specs/reviews, and decided to get both.  Now I've got a bag and shelter that packs very small, and weighs in at 5lbs total.

I'm toasting a set of USA made Danners right now. I'll never buy another set of Danners again. 

I hear you on the Danners, 3 weeks of hunting and mine were ready to give up.

I almost didn't purchase it because of that, then I thought about how many times I have actually zipped my bag all the way down while sleeping in cold weather?  The answer was, never.  I have a bag for warm weather, and I just needed one that packed small, was lightweight, and could be used for backpack hunting when the temps dropped below freezing.  This bag fit that criteria.

Plus I got the Shangri-La 5 and only paid for shipping once...What a deal.

Remember that the loft in a sleeping bag provides the warmth. You may want to store it hanging up in the closet. If you keep it compressed the fibers may get close together, thus no loft, less warmth.

So far I'm pretty happy with my North Face Snow Shoe, but I wish it was lighter.

We store all our down and ever the synthetic fully "expanded" in the closet. Nothing kills down or synthetic more than long term compression.

That is a good price Miles.  I've never used one or know anybody that has.  Looks like nice mummy bag.  I use a Helium, and have been as happy as I can in a mummy bag.....which isn't very.
