Here kitty kitty 2009 cat with bow
« on: February 10, 2011, 07:46:03 PM »
Since I have lots of pics not yet posted just figured I share one. On nov. 30 2009 I was in my stand waiting for a 175" buck that we had several pics of ( my bro in law shot it this last dec. see pics by beeman) and had not been seeing anything. Then at about 8 am i caught movement and saw this kitty hunting the same deer that I was. After waiting for the right moment I was able to draw and shot her with my hoyt katera at 21 yards! She only ran 30 yards and piled up. She was mature at 8 years and and was just shy of 120# and 6' 7" long. The biologist said it was one of the bigger females he had seen. She had no kittens. 8)

"HOYT" why would you even consider shooting something else?

Yep I did a dorsal skinning job and it is with a family taxedermist who is doing a full body resting log mount. I also boned out the hams took the back strap and a couple shoulder roasts.  She was real good eating.

Oh...there are so many things this old Sailor could say about the first comment, but this being a family place I will be good.

As for the second comment, I haven't cougar meat but the folks I work with compare it to pork.

BTW, nice kitty, congrats.  Did you get the deer too?

Awesome job.  That is one nice cat.  I'd love to get me one of those.
Enjoy nature by all means, but do not tempt her.  For you matter not to her, and she will not mourn your passing.

I know the adrenalin rush from arrowing a deer.  I can only imagine what arrowing a huge cat like that must be like.  Please post the mount pics when she's done.
