Where's everybody putting in for?
« on: May 11, 2008, 11:04:11 PM »
I've already bought my Eastern Archery Elk tag.  I'm thinking about the Peola, Mountain View and Tucannon units for my choices and in that order.  Peola gets first choice for me because I live in that unit, and they finally put 1 bull tag out there to hunt it.  It would be a good unit to draw if you can get access because it's almost all private.

What's everybody's plans?

Lope,
I live in Clarkston and have been turkey hunting around the area a bit this year.  The Peola unit is pretty much all private, but the game department signs are up that all say the state is paying for the access but you've got to get written permission.  It should be possible to find a few places to hunt.

Hey Opportunist,  You going to draw Peaches again this year with 1 point. If I had drawn a multi season tag this year I would be putting in for it again. That last couple of days last year the bulls really started to get cranked up. That bull that you and your dad told me about that was up behind your camp played with me half the day on that last fri. Had 2 other bulls calling on that ridge also. I would like to go over there and call some bulls in for the video camera after it closes for the archery season but befor the oct 1st opener.

personaly i would put in for clockum c...i got a little slice of heaven in that unit that i have yet to see anyone hunting. if i could get an any bull tag. or they came out with a cow tag i would be set.

until then i wont even both hunting it for elk, though i do see alot of spikes where i hunt it. its strickly deer for me which has went down hill sence the elk started migrating to my little area.

but i think im gonna start putting in for a few places. i never have put in for any tags. so i think its time to start.

Bowpredator, I'm still on the fence with what I'm doing. I've got a buddy who has 6 elk points and wants to put in with me east side but I'm half tossing around hunting the wetside around the homestead. I'm glad to hear you got on him, I wish you could have got an arrow into him, a little payback for the nights he kept us awake. Good luck in the draws.

Not going archery deer this year but will put in for the SE WA units and maybe Peaches again... drew the Peaches tag last year but it was a really tough hunt... Hot during the day and it seemed like the rut didn't really kick in till later.  If you look at the photo album at the little store up the Naches road, 95% of the pictures of big bulls are dated past Oct. 1st...
