Archery help

I'm fairly new to shooting a bow and I need some tips to get ready for the up coming season.  I shoot a plain recurve no sights and I would really like some input on how to buy my arrows for practice and the hunt in order to keep the same accuracy.

Hop in your car and drive down to Hood River OR and go to Raptor Archery.  http://www.raptorstore.com/store/index.php  Ted will get you set up with the right arrows and help with shooting as well.  Shooting a trad bow accurately is a matter of proper bow/arrow tuning, good form, and LOTS of practice.  A tuned bow/arrow setup will shoot field points and broadheads to the same point of impact.  Get yourself set up and enjoy the journey.

If you really want to get good than you gotta make sure you have the right set up. Go to a archery shop and get them to check out your stuff and most the time they can point ya in the right direction. Also, silencers are still a must on recurve bow's. As is a good arrow rest.

Ryoshi is right about the trip to Hood River being one that would pay huge dividends. It is the closest traditional-only shop. And going to anyplace that doesn't have a traditional guy to help isn't going to do much good. There is one traditional archery pro at Cabela's in Lacey but you would have to call to find out when he is working to be sure you get to talk to him.

You don't have to have an elevated rest on a recurve unless it has a flat shelf. And if it does a rasp can fix that.

You would do well to go the the shoot at Flint Tip Archers this weekend in Enumclaw and ask someone there for help. Most of the members there are traditional archers. The range is on State Route 410 across the highway from the one golf course green that is visible from the road, just east of town, north side.
