Really nice find.  Might have to keep my eye out at the pawn shops from now on.

Sounds fun.  Hopefully the weather is nice for you guys.  We tried to go shooting on Saturday, but kept getting our caps and powder wet.  Managed only a few shots & went home.  Sure look forward to trying our guns out on some new R.E.A.L. bullets soon as it warms up.  Good luck!

The Elkhorn shot Great! weather was ok, rained at times, good thing its all covered.
Had a hell of a time getting the TMZ's down the barrel, not going to shoot those anymore,
I'll try TEZ's but not the TMZ's, I'm going to try the Powerbelts when I get some.

Seems like power belts are usually pretty easy to load.  I have trouble loading sabots, so I use a lot of Bore Butter to get them to go down easier.  The R.E.A.L bullets we made just dropped right in, which was weird after bending my rod on sabots so many times.  I think I'm gonna like that mold.  We shot a few off hand and got some rough groups, so we know we can get them dialed in.  Bring on the warm dry weather & we'll brew up some smoke!

If a certain bullet/sabot combination is difficult to load, you can always try the same bullet with a different sabot. I have been using a sabot made by Harvester called they call the "crush rib" sabot. They are available directly from Harvester's website.

An article that bearpaw posted recently in topic on muzzleloader bullets may be helpful:

Today was the first time I shot a muzzleloader, after a couple shots my buddy looks over at me as
I'm struggling to get these TMZ"S down the barrel without bending my ramrod and he say's
"what the f*** is your malfunction" ?: :dunno:  :chuckle:. I started off cleaning after every shot,
then we tried lubing the sabots with bore butter, that helped, but they were still tight.

I'm not sure this muzzy was shot much because the ramrod looked new, it doesn't look so new now.

Sounds like you didn't have a short starter. You'll want to pick one up just for the times that you can barely get a bullet started. I don't use mine often but when I need it it sure comes in handy.

Oh ok, so your ramrod was still bending quite a bit when pushing the bullet down the barrel? (after you started it with the short starter) ??

Yep, it would have been a bitch without the bullet starter.
