I bought a .597 when they first came out. It was a sweet gun. I thought it was way too loud though. Ended up selling it then about six months after I sold it I found out they were recalling them because they were blowing up. Remington would give you like $200 for it or you could send it in and they'd put a .22 mag barrel on it. I really like the .204. If you compare the cost to shoot, there isn't that big of a difference. Anyway, my point is if you are looking for a Remington .17, stay away from the 597's.MS
That is a smoking round for sure but has been overshadowed as of late by the 204 Ruger round, again another great round. You should really like the 17 Remington, very little if any recoil and deadly accurate.
