Clark Fork river... Catfish?
« on: February 13, 2011, 08:21:46 PM »
does anyone by any chance know if there are catfish in the Clark Fork river near Thomson Falls or Trout Creek, Montana? I'm going to visit my Grandma and uncles over there Memorial weekend then heading to the Lyon's ferry catfishing get together from there. Just wondering if I could get some Catfishing in before the big show. Also is there any must fish spots in between the 2 locals that I can hit on the way since I will have a couple of days in between. Would really appreciate any help. Thanks!

There's about a thousand must fish spots between the Clark and the catfish rendezvous.
With that said...and no offense to the catfish...but the last thing I'd be worried about if I was standing on the banks of the Clark are catfish. You've got one of the greatest trout fishing rivers in the nation right at the tips of your toes.
What kind of fishing do you like to do? Seriously...there's tons of options.
I'd drive highway 12 from Missoula through Idaho and trout bum my way back to Lyons.

It's an incredible drive too.

I definitely am going to be doing some trout fishing. I always love fishing there with the family. But I've never fished for cats there and I'm going to have all the stuff with me so figured I would try it out. Plus I love cats and my grandma is from the south so I thought she would want to cook some up for me. :chuckle:

Trout is my favorite to fish for but I do it all the time so its nice to change it up once in  awhile. Plus I haven't got to fish for cats since I lived in Boise.
