more eagle cap bulls.
« on: February 14, 2011, 11:27:25 PM »
I tried to post them all under the same thread but they (the pics) were to big so i started another since ya'll wanted to see more pics. The big bull was alot of fun to hunt. I spotted him with 3 cows about a mile away at about 3 oclock. Now that is as the crow flies. So I had to make a decision to wait untill morning or say screw it and go for it. Well I went for it and bailed off the ridge I was on and lost 1000' in elevation only to climb up 1200' to get to where the bull was. It about killed me :'( Once I got to where he was I had half hour of light left and he was feeding in a little clearing on  45 degree slope. I managed to slip in to 48 yards and put an arrow right through his lungs! He only went about 60 yards a tipped over. What a rush! My buddy was able to watch it all from a mile away where I first spotted him. He is still My biggest bull to date with a bow. Pics are poor but they are what they are. The fuzzy horn spike was a God giffted elk. The next year I was hunting in a little drainage and sat down to eat my lunch and a few minutes later this fuzzy guy came right by at 24 yards! big mistake. He only went another 80 with both his lungs blown out. I just couldnt pass him up. We got the horses right to him. I aslo killed a 4 point but dont have any good pics of him. posted pics of a cow on other thread. She was my first elk with bow. So in a nutshell there are the last 6 years in the Eagle Caps. :)

"HOYT" why would you even consider shooting something else?
