1941 WA buck 203 4/8 on ebay, anybody know the story behind it?
« on: February 16, 2011, 10:20:34 PM »
I am not the guy selling this, I just stumbled across it tonight.  Wouldn't mind finding out where it was shot.

http://cgi.ebay.com/Giant-NonTypical-Mule-Deer-Mount-Huge-Antlers-Taxidermy-/110647507466?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item19c31afa0a

It states its from a guy named Joe Guariz who shot it in 1941 in WA state.  Its a nice buck.

Just curious if anyone knows the story behind it.  Where it was shot?

I just looked closer at the score sheet and it says Okanagon, Buzzy Cook signed it also, I will have to ask him when I see him this weekend if he knows the story behind it.  Its a nice buck.

Scoring 203 4/8 SCI; he won't make all time B&C so I never had it scored by an offical B&C scorer.

Isn't Buzzy a B/C measurer?

It definately has the genetic make up of an Okanogan Co. buck, just in supersize form. :twocents:

One of you guys should contact the buyer and get it back to WA!  He probably only wants a couple grand for it.   :o

Looks to me like John Haugen's shop in Jackson Hole to me.  Can't remember the name of it.

Reserve not met.  Guess we may see it on e-bay again soon.

Sent the seller an e-mail.  His reserve was set at $1,900.  He says he planning on selling it in his shop so we may not see it on ebay again.

That seemed like a heck of a deal for a full body mount that looked pretty decent, connected to such a nice set of antlers.

One of you deep pocketed guys should really get that mount back where it belongs in WA state.

I only had a minute with Buzzy, but I did bring it up.  He didnt recall it immediately, we were both busy so I didn't get to follow up Saturday night.

Wow!  I have a no typical rack that was given to me by an old timer that used to own a gun shop. I took the rack to the sportsmans show to have it measured.  It measured 223 5/8's and it was shot in the Okanogan in 72 or 73.  The last time I check the state record books, he would come in at #10. It's nice to know that I could get a $1,000.00 out of it.

Can you post a picture of it?  Would be cool to see what WA (genetically) could produce.
