There have been two sighting of WT on the Training Center one doe and one buck this year. We even have a couple old sheds in the office to prove they have been here.

The deer I have seen along the Yak river from Union Gap to my exit have all been small bodied mulies. I have not seen any WT along the river yet it is hard to tell at 70 mph unless I can see the radar ears. Since the flood waters have gone down I have only seen a couple deer and not the dozen or more a night I would see on my drive.

Scott

So I saw an opossum tonight right at dark at about 10 feet on the Greenway at 40th.  Thought it was a rat, but it was a possum.  Tried to get a pic, but it went into the brush before I could get it.

So if we have possums here then that proves we have whitetails here.

A nd the bunch that are by the valley mall are the mulie/blacktail that are river deer.  They always come there this time of year to feed on the cheatgrass.

I ALSO don't have a picture of them, but I saw a WT doe with twin fawns this summer right above the railroad bridge on the E-burg end of the Canyon. No doubt in my mind as she had small ears and a tan colored tail about 15" long that waved side to side in the air when she took off.
I hunt, therefore I am.... I fish, therefore I lie.

Ok so someone asked for Pics.  Here is a Great Yak River buck.   Not a mulie or blacktail, but a great representative of the hybrids that are along the Yakima River.  Note the thinner horns and the "whitetail forking" - but NOT a whitetail.

You need more than horn forking to call it a whitetail - especially at 70 mph.  Also the river deer have different coloring than whiteies.  Spend enough time and you will learn the difference

But that being said this is not proof that there are not white tails on the Yak cuz I know they are there and wish they would just get to breeding faster so that I can whack one before I get too old to pack him out.

Have other pics that I can post of these bucks - still looking for  them.

I was thinking the same.

I shot a Hybrid MULEYXBlacktail a few years back. the only true way I could tell the diffrence was in the head......It just didn't fit the deer....

Having three points does not make a mule deer a whitetail.   :dunno:
