Was in some good bear country the last couple days, the snow melted enough to access some good areas, but no tracks or bear spotted yet. We did get on some more turkeys and another hunter notched his tag on a turkey, plus a couple misses, back out hunting again this morning, my fingers are crossed, we worked a bird at daylight but I didn't turn him on good enough and he give me the brush off...
we're set up in a blind now, Anthony has birds all over on top of him, his hunter is bowhunting, she got busted drawing her bow last night, so they have a different setup this morning.

Fred was set up in blind right where the birds like to fly down. Brian was sitting back watching the show waiting for the birds to come off the roost, birds are going off back and forth across the ridge behind Fred, it sounded like 4 gobblers. Suddenly boooommmmm, what's he shooting at, the birds are still on the roost, booooooommmmm again, then he's running out in to the field, booooooommm again, he runs a little farther and boooooommm again. What the heck is going on, no birds were in sight?
??
Turns out he had wounded a coyote and had to run it down. Finally killed him and the birds were still on the roost going off...
Pretty obvious they aren't going to fly down into the field now though so they headed over to a different hunting spot. Fred got onto a couple birds but was too close, maybe 8 or 1o yards and had to shoot quick and missed both birds both times, now they spot another bird, Fred is down to his last shell, finally the bird is in range and booooommmm, big bird down on the last cartridge.....
Needles to say Fred had a great morning.....

Thanks gringo...
Bryan, whom I put on stand this morning had quite a morning. He knocked down a good longbeard and was waiting for me to come get him and along comes another 4 longbeards so he smacked another, then to top it off he had a young black bear 40 yards out that he watched for a minute or two, this was a great morning, I love it when a plan comes together.
Anthony pulled the chip on the trailcam close to where he was sitting and there was another chocolate bear on the trail cam, so the bear are finally starting to move around here.

Having another good day, this morning we sacked up two more longbeards. On one of the birds the hens called in right off the roost and the gobbler followed, big mistake for the ladies and Mr Tom as he met with a couple rounds of #6. On the other bird it was a spot and stalk affair, the bird wasn't going to call in so Anthony and Matt pulled off a sneak that put them 10 yards from the bird, they said the gobbler looked at them and knew he was in trouble, he took to flight and Matt took him out of the air with 1 shot at close range. "I love it when a plan comes together."

I am running out of hunters again, we still have numerous gobblers staked out if anyone would like to come on a good turkey hunt. We offer guided or unguided hunts.

Here's another nice bird taken yesterday by a policeman from Calgary. It's been a great season with a lot of nice birds, but I wished we had a few more hunters.
