I guess my A-bolt is pretty to me. My wifes is pretty too, same gun different cal.

Well now I don't have to post a picture. My rifle is identical to yours, 270 Win. as well.

I guess it depends on your definition of "pretty."   :dunno:

I wouldn't say they're ugly but not pretty either. A rifle with a wood stock and a high luster finish and a shiny blued barrel/action is pretty, but for hunting I don't want a pretty rifle. I want a consistently accurate rifle. And that's what the Browning is.

Looks like you have a Leupold scope too. Only difference is mine is a matte finish? What model scope is it? I've got a Vari X III in a 3.5-10x40.

I'd go with the A-bolt too based on those choices.  I really like the X-Bolt but I don't know if I could justify paying that much more $ over the A-bolt.
May I always be the kind of person my dog thinks I am.

My wife has the Vari X III 3.5-10x40 on her A-bolt, I have the Vari X II 3-9x40 on the 270win in the pic.

:)I have Tikkas and like them alot, I have a Mod 70 270WSM like it a lot, Do not care for Browning A bolt, if you choose Browning I'd reccomend the X bolt. In my opinion the A bolt has the worst magazine system ever designed.

My vote among those rifles listed would be the Browning a-bolt in stainless stalker.  If you shop around you can find them in the $800 range.
I didn't say it was your fault, I said I was blaming you.

You cant go wrong with any of them... go hold them and decide which feels better to you...which one "seems" right... and that will be your answer!

Go with the browning! Just my opinion, but it is amazing the confidence you gain when you have a gun that you love.  I had never had that feeling until I bought my stalker.  There are not to many shots I dont feel like I couldnt make with that gun.  Light gun that doesnt pound the crap out of your shoulder.  I am also aware that every gun even though the same brand is a little different, but everyone I have talked to that owns one has said the same.

All good guns but my vote would be with the tikka or a TC Icon. Pick em all up and buy the one that feels the best to you.

Just out of curiosity what is this supposed problem with the magazine on the A-bolt ? just load the gun and go hunt  i have heard this a few times but one would have to go out of their way to make it fail or have a problem with it. :dunno:

I think people have a problem with the magazine having the hinge on it.  It can be a little cumbersome getting it hooked into place, but after you do it a few times it shouldn't be a problem.

I can see where the A-bolt magazine would be great for road hunters in states where it is legal to have shells in your magazine and it attached to your rifle.

Browning makes their BAR with the same style magazine and I think they may have that style on the BLR but I'm not sure.  I shot my first buck with my dad's 30-06 BAR with that type of mag, and I shot several deer with my brother's A-bolt......I never really had a problem with the mag.
May I always be the kind of person my dog thinks I am.

Find the gun that fits you best... more important than brand or looks, don't need to impress your friends.
But the Browning A-bolt would be my choice.
Only people that dont like the A-bolt clipin magizine are road hunters, too hard for them, can't just pop it in as you bail out....

:)With the A5 the detachable box magazine must be detached from the floor plate to be "unloaded" as far as the law is concerned. You load the box magazine hook it to the floor plate and close it. They should have been detachable or not in my opinion. I find them very awkward and very slow to use. the X bolt is a major improvement.

I agree.  The X-bolt is an improvement.  They made the trigger better, the safety is better (3 position now) and the magazine isn't the weird hinge deal.  I just wish the price tag wasn't so high.............

The thing I really like about the Browning bolt rifles is the tang safety.  I don't know why more manufacturers don't go with tang safeties.  My Steyr has a 3-pos tang safety like the X-bolt now has......I love it.

Take a look at the Howa/Vanguards. My Howa 1500 in .270 is a tack driver.

+1 great gun for the price and it will leave you more room for a better scope. m70 is still my first choice tho.
