zeon fusion vane review
« on: February 19, 2011, 01:30:00 PM »
So I fletched up some arrows with the new Zeon Fusion vanes and I was really supprized at how well they worked. Out of the box they don't look like they would be very bright but when put them on the arrow and look down the shaft it looks like the fiberoptics on your sight. I was shooting the arrows 20-60 yards at my 3d deer target at 4:30 and the vanes were almost as bright as a lumennok. At 5:50 as it was getting dark I shot again, it was not as bright but I could still see it in flight. All in all I give them a 9 out of 10. The colors tested were 2 green and 1 orange.

I got mine. They're fletched up but haven't got a chance to shoot them yet. My initial thoughts about them were the same as yours.

I'm not familar at all with this type of fletch. If they're that bright, will they be too bright for hunting?

They are not bright when you look at them from the side. So I don't think it would be a problem.

:chuckle: Don't forget animals are color blind :chuckle: I have never heard of a animal busting, because it saw you colored fletchings. Don't worry about how bright they are.

Refering to training my labs: I have mostly white retriever dummies but I do have some blk/wht, blaze orange and three chartreuse or flo green as some people call it. Dogs have to 'hunt' for the blaze orange dummy even when it's obvious to me but the chartreuse ones must stick out like light bulbs to them. Even after dark, I can throw the chartreuse dummies and they cannot be seen at all by me but the dogs find them without a hitch. The blaze orange ones take some hunting wth their noses. I've even hid the dummies and the dogs are not aware of any dummies being out there. When I send them in a direction, the chartreuse dummies are immediately spotted even when they're running past the blaze orange ones.
I believe they're color blind but I also believe they see certain colors differently than we do. Knowing this, I will not put chartreuse fletching on any of my arrows.
