This clown(clowns?) are all over Craigs list-you'll see "to good to be true" prices daily if you look under
ATV's-that line is one of their common lines about the soldiers wife and other sob stories.  Usually they tell you they'll pay for shippping and be sending you a cashiers check to cover it, might be a little more than needed so give them the change and the'll get it shippped.  They have several other schemes along that line-best advice is to NEVER pay out any money until the item is actually in your hands.  I flag them whenever I see them on craigs list-you can spot them easily, nice add usually with at least two pictures and usualy a ladies email  address to respond to and never a phone number.  I've contacted craigs list on them in the past, but, frankly, they run so many of them on boats, RV's, car's (high ticket items at incredibbly low prices) that craig's list can't monitor them all. Remember, if it's to good to be true, it usually isnt!!

Call them and get to see it.  Do not give out your real name.  But tell them you have cash to play right now.

When I was looking for a Toyota Tundra I came accross lots of these scams.
Thats why the first thing you see when you go into craigslist Car/Trucks section is this

How to recognize a vehicle scam attempt on CL:
•Shipping a vehicle to you is suggested by seller
•eBay Motors or another intermediary is specified by seller
•Payment by Western Union or a money wire is requested
•Price is unusually low (fraction of blue book value)
If you see these tell-tale signs, flag ad as "prohibited" and avoid

Offers to ship a vehicle are virtually 100% fraudulent

eBay has no involvment in craigslist for sale ads, and any eBay or similar emails or web pages you receive are fake

Never use Western Union or wire transfer to pay for goods - only a scammer will ask for this, and any funds sent will be lost

Do not buy vehicles site-unseen, regardless of low price. The vehicle does not exist, and any money you send will be lost.

Stories about divorcees or departing servicemen needing to sell quickly at a low price are generally fraudulent

If a deal sounds too good to be true, it probably is!
More information is available for avoiding scams

If it's too good to be true.
I can not believe that these scams still work, and people still fall for them.... :bash:
I mean really, you would be willing to sell your whatever for a hugely discounted price under it's value and have such a hard time doing it that you would be posting in a city so far away.....
To hunt and butcher an animal is to recognize that meat is not some abstract form of protein that springs into existence tightly wrapped in cellophane and styrofoam.

I have a twin axle pop up trailer for sale. $1000. Good condition. Send me a cashiers check to my husbands account in Afganistan. He died but, that is his army checking account.... :chuckle:
