How are the NE whitetails doing(Winter kill)

They seem to be doing fine in South SPokane area.

Last I heard over 150 coyotes were taken, not sure of the final tally, it ended Sunday.

I probably saw 300-400+ deer between Readan and Colville but None the entire Williams lake Rd.  Not sure if its the snow or the foreigners.

Talked to a friend that lives near Little Spokane River, a no shooting area. He saw a doe being chased by a coyote right by  shop. He knows of 3 recent coyote killed deer, within 200 yards of shop, with out going in timber looking.

That's good news that they are putting a hurt on the predators. The way the weather concentrates the deer this time of year makes them really susceptible to predation.

I've only found 1 winter kill this year out looking for sheds. It was a fresh cougar kill just recently covered. It seems like the deer are doing good this year.

No i didn't . I should have but i just took pictures and kept moving.

This might be a comment for another thread, but does anyone know what the final decision of the WDFW meeting to decide on making 117, 121  a 4 point minimum unit?  Are we hunting 4 point in 49 degrees north next year or any buck?

The meeting is occuring tommorrow where they hear more input in Spokane.

Supposed to snow 2 to 4 inches tonight, I amn officially tired of winter, AZ is sounding better every year....

Just came back from North Stevens county. Deer looked very healthy and we saw tons of deer.

talking with my buddy that lives on spokane mt. the two farms we hunt by loon lake have the population increasing a little, we got the cameras out trying to get some numbers and start some tracking, most of the deer i saw a month or so ago looked pretty healthy, but i know the snow hit once or twice since i have been there, i'll be heading over for spring turkey, and we'll be getting in alot more scouting, so hopefully we can see some good numbers, thats good to hear about the coyote challenge, those muts are everywhere, hopefully i can knock a couple down and send them into a nice looooong nap next time i'm out there.

I was up bumming around in Northern Stevens county this weekend. I would say the whitetail population looks VERY good. Animals looked well fed and  I thought the numbers were good. I found a few carcasses, but not many. (didn't examine them for bullet fragments)
