Need help with new bow!!!
« on: February 28, 2011, 04:25:13 PM »
I just received my bow today that I bought from a guy off Archery Talk.  Its a Destroyer 340.  The top limb says 340 the bottom says 350.  I called a shop they said the bottom limb had probably broke and he put a 350 limb on.  He also stated it could have a deflection problem.  So now I am pissed needless to say.  What do you guys think.

I believe the 340 and 350 have the same limbs on them.
So as long as they put the same deflection limb on it shouldn't be an issue. :dunno:

Maybe a phone call to Bowtech would provide some answers.   :dunno:

I tried that, you dont talk to anyone and they refer you to go online and send a message or talk to a dealer direct.

From what I understand the deflection is mark on the limb inside the riser.  So I am guessing I need to make a trip to a shop and have it checked out.   :dunno:

The limbs probably have to be removed to read the numbers

the limbs should be the same deflection, but even i they are both 60 lb limbs there still could be an issue if they are a litle different. i think they should come as a set, with matching deflection.

Would a shop be able to tell what the limb poundage is?  :dunno:

THe shop I work at could take it apart and get the deflection number off both limbs, should be the same but I would be concerned if it was mine. We could call our rep at B-tek and get some answers. We are in Chehalis :)

Carefully measure the length of each limb see if they are the same.

I work at Lucky Shot Archery in Chehalis. If the bow has 2 different limbs I would assume it had a problem that was not covered by  the warranty. Just a guess that the person bought a limb second hand and installed it. Could have been dry fired or something :dunno: :dunno:just speculating  :dunno:

Carefully measure the length of each limb see if they are the same.
The 340 and 350 have completely different specs. If it's got miss matched parts it's gonna be outta wack. Possibly not safe to shoot.
Doesn't play well with others.

I would definitely try to contact the guy you bought the bow from and ask for a refund. (if it turns out the two limbs are not compatible)

several years back when I worked at sportsmans warehouse and bowtech was going through some major limb problems with their allegiance and Tributes there were several times that a guy would come in during season and didn't have time to wait for new limbs. the Allegiance and tribute had the same limbs and there were several times when we were hard up for replacement limbs, guys didnt want to wait and ended up with allegiance limbs on their tribute and visa versa. Same limbs, different bows, no issue.
This may be the case here, i wouldn't get to worried about it unless you find they are different deflection with one being a 60# limb and one being a 70# limb.

I email the guy and he said he only owned the bow for a short time and never saw the limb difference.  He was going to talk to the  guy he bought it from.  He said he had a destroyer 350 when he bought the bow I now have and liked the 350 better so decided to sell it. So I will have a shop check it out and decide if I have to try and get my money back or not.
