Bulls Mewing
« on: March 21, 2011, 09:39:32 AM »
When I used to hunt the late archery hunt in Little Natches  I couldn't believe the number of times I had big bulls answer my cow calls by mewing like a cow ! Kind of made some sense since they did this when they were a calf though.
So has anyone else ever seen this ?

I have heard bulls mew a few times over the years. I had a bull one fall that would mew right before he bugled! I didn't notice it until he was within 50 yards, I thought he had a cow with him but when I saw him do it I couldn't believe it. :)

Mews/mewing is a social sound and is used by all Elk. It is not unusual to hear a Bull mew.
Some people spend their entire life wondering if they made a difference. Marines don't have that problem.
