As for being a single shot, it only takes one shot to put an animal down.
I love THEM!!! I do have a hard time hunting with a single shot in Ak
Wastickslinger has a sweet red pad 22-250 he said he plans on giving me someday its a gem with nice wood on it. They are chunky though, you definitely feel them on the sling. I'd suggest if you are planning on getting one for hunting, don't get picky with the wood and if you do by chance get your hands on one with exceptional wood, I'd suggest passing on it or keeping it for a range gun or a safe queen MS
Dont let anyone tell you that you cant get it done with a single shot. You will become a better shot!!

Are any of you guys handloading for your #1s and really working on tight shootin loads?
Nice gun. Not sure going from a T/C is a "Step Up" though. 'Depends' on both guns. I have had both. Like both.
I have a funny story regarding a #1, a charging black bear and a guy wishing that #1 wasn't a single shot. You can gifure the rest of the story out. Apparently it's difficult to get another boolit in the hole when there's a bear wanting to kick the krap out of you.
It was made in the mid eighties,I am sure it has had some trigger work done plus the forarm has been bedded. Not a bad strait up trade for a tang safety bull barrel ruger 77 22-250 I thought any way280

Like, it would be better than trying to stuff a muzzleloader or knock another arrow. If i had a bear charging me I would forget how to work a bolt action too.
I have a #1 in 220 swift, took a little work at the reloading bench to find a good load for it.Also had to float the forend, put on a Kiplinger trigger,a Vortex 6.5-20x50 and put the "secret" tuning screw to tune the barrel...now it shoots like a champ.Pushing 52 grain hornady bthp at 3800 fps and punching 5 shot 3/4" groups.NICE!Hated it at first cause it just would not shoot like I figured it would but after a little time and patience, wouldn't trade it for anything.

All this talk got me to thinking about them again. Then I ran into one in .357 mag. Hmmm. Push the chamber out for .357 MAX, toss my 14 power mil dot on it, and then,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,
