That is exactly what a berger is supposed to do. If it can make it to the soft tissue without hitting serious bone, the results are amazing. Throw a big bone in the mix and it is a crap shoot. I use bergers and smks on cull hunts where there is no pressure and broadside shots are the only shots......but for my 9 day season I would rather make 3 more clicks into the wind and use a tough bullet that works at all angles. Let's face it once you get into 500 and more yards, to make solid hits you have some calculating to do.

A shoulder blades is pretty easy to get through.....good luck in your future.
