You want a bad ass rifle?

Check out these bad boys.... WOW! Some super nice guns.

On another note, I just learned of this company, Vectronix, that makes these range finders that are insanely accurate and have ranges from 5-15 miles!!! Talk about long range. Prob is, the one that goes to 5 miles is about $21,000!!!!

Which Chey ? 408? 375? 338 Lap? Those things are INSANE!

Hey LR7mm.... Whats your favorite stock? I am in the market for a stock for my Model 70... something kinda "tactical"...

Sumptin like this McMillan A2, but in a little different color maybe!

all of them will do it the 338 has unreel ballistics    some day i will build one  :chuckle: They offer a class to teach you how to shoot 3000 meters or 3280 yards  I think that would be a blast

My favorite stock is the Greybull Precision it is one of the most comfortable stocks I have ever shot weights in at 2.6 lbs down fall is they are only making them to fit a Rem. 700 action

Cant Go wrong with a McMillan or HS The A2 is a good stock there are a lot of places that will do custom paint on your stock, rifle and scope then it will truly be one of a kind  :chuckle: or you could put your skills to the test and DIY  :chuckle:

The Vectronix range finders are really cool toys.  I have a PLRF-10 on order that will range out past 2K.  I have played with the big ones that range farther, but this one will suit my needs.  We have shot our 338 Edge's out to just over 2200yds and its definitely a blast.  We normally shoot 800-1500yds a few times a week with the occasional 2k shot now and then.  Its addicting and alot of fun.

GA makes a nice rifle.  Same company that builds their actions builds ours as well.

rbros I take it you like the Templar action then, Im thinking of a Lawton, Surgeon, Stiller, or Templar when I build my Lapua the Surgeon is a little more than I care to spend for an action but man they are awesome.

What are your actions called Rbros?

I can see getting into this stuff, but its going to be a slow process for me...

LR..I'd probably go the DIY route, as I am a craftsman and build bows and all sorts of stuff... and am a bit artisitic...it would be fun. I'd get a Cerracote kit and GO FOR IT!

I am trying to decide if I should just sell this mod 70 300 or use the action to build something....

I believe rbros is using a Templar action made by Defiance Machine I believe

Your MOD 70 action would be just fine to build off of

I built a stock a while back for a tikka M695 action i had because I got tired of trying to find one it turned out really good but ended up weighting almost 4 lbs I will try to find a picture of it. I carved out of wood then did an epoxy coat on it

Yeah, I'm just trying to figure out if its worth JUST using the action off it... I guess I could sell the stock and the barrel (its a 300 Win with the boss...may be worth something to someone??)...

What do you think? Whats a good custom action run? I can get a barrel chambered and mounted for about $500 cant I?

Dam those McMillan stocks are spendy!

I always hit the pawn shops and gun shows look for Remingtons 700 LA I have picked a couple up for 300 and they are a great action  :twocents:

you can pick a Lawton up for 900 - $1000 or a surgeon will run around $1800 For the long action repeater

The Last Gun i had done on a rem 700 is shooting 6.5" group at 1000 with 180 gr berger and I had a 338 RUM on a rem 700 that would shoot 8" at 1000 with 300 gr Hybrid

I have an old Model 721 action... I wonder if it would be worth a crap on a build??

Do you get your 700's trued and bolt face squared or just go with them as is!

I bought a 700 sa from my father in law for $200!!!!!!!! made it into a 243 for my daughter.... wish I could get a few more like that!

Defiance Machine does build our Rogue action for us.  There are some changes that add strength, function and reliability to the action.  I have tried all the customs out there and the Defiance and the Surgeon are among the smoothest, with the edge going to the Defiance.  Here are a couple of pics compared to a Remington.  Also, the 338 Lapua's use a .750 bolt in our receiver for maximum strength.

A very accurate rifle can be built off a Remington 700.  My personal 338 Edge is built on one and it will shoot 4-5" at 1k all day long easily.  On a few occasions it has been less.  From an econimics standpoint, by the time a guy purchases a donor rifle, has the action trued, bolt fluted, firing pin bushed, he is at the same price as a custom with less resale value.  If you already have a Remmy 700, then that is a different story or get one really cheap.

Fitting and chambering a barrel will generally cost much less than $500.  This, of course, doesn't include the cost of the barrel.  I have packages on my website that guys can look at, as I don't want to get in trouble quoting pricing on here for advertising without being a sponsor

A full blueprint job will entail recutting the threads, recutting the locking lugs, receiver face, and bolt face.  I generally measure everything first and see what really needs to be done to bring things concentric with the centerline.  A properly cut chamber will go along ways from an accuracy standpoint.
