Torqueless Side Plates on my Destroyer 340

Just put a set of side plates on my 340 and couldn't be happier!  I almost think this bow was designed to be shot off the riser.  Feels much more natural.  I never really had a problem with stock grip but decided to give these a try just cuz.  If you shoot a Destroyer you owe it to yourself to take the grip off and shoot off the riser to see what you think of it.

Those look great! I just got my Destroyer and I love it. I have been looking at the Torqueless grips also. Why just the side plates and not the full grip? Do you think the side plate help your grip be more consistant, or are they just for looks? I was thinking about a full grip for more consistant hand placement. I you dont mind me asking, what color is that? It matches great!

I tried a full Torqueless grip I bought from another HW member and didn't like it as much as the stock grip.  After reading some threads on Archery Talk where guys were talking up using side plates or just taking their grip off and shooting off the riser I decided to give it a try.

You really should take your grip off and give it a try off the riser.  It really does seem like BT had side plates in mind with this bow.

Hey Lowedog, sorry the mid-wrist TG didn't work for ya.  Those side plates look awesome!  BTW, I totally agree with you regarding shooting bare or side plate grip riser.  I've fully switch over to Athens.  Shoot a bare riser Exceed for target and a "hybrid" grip on my Ibex (hunting).

Nice! Yea I like side plates way more. I have them on my 82nd and I love that grip. I'm actually looking for some for my maxxis.

Great looking side plates...hard to go wrong with a set of Torqueless grips on any bow, they are very nice!

I'll comment since I had both a mid and a low wrist ( http://www.torqueless.com/category_s/65.htm ) TG on my 350.  Basically, The full grip gives you a really nice, solid hand placement with respect to the top of the grip.  Torqueless refers to this as the nose ( http://www.torqueless.com/category_s/63.htm ).  The "downside", and this is where is gets really subjective, is how a full grip sits in your hand.  The back of the grip to the sides are a little squarish, in my opinion.  A bare riser with side plates will provide a more rounded feeling from back to sides.  I've come to like the later.  Honestly, I can't say there was anything wrong with the full grip.  Again, this is a personal preference, feel, and how a given grip sits in a person's hand.

Bowpreditor has a low wrist TG on his 350.  Maybe he'll catch this thread and throw in his

mtbiker, that was my feeling on the full grip I bought from you.  I really liked the finish and look of the grip and my bow shot well with it but the squared off edges didn't feel right to me.  I believe that one was the mid grip if I remember right.

Yeah, that was a mid wrist.  I had switch to the low wrist.

Little tangent, but how do you like the NAP Sizzor.  I might go that route next time I have money to throw away.

Of all the rest I have tried I like the Sizzor the best.  I have shot with one for about 3 years now with no problems at all.

Yep, I really like the full low wrist grip I picked up from mtbiker for a sweet deal when he got rid of his D-350. It took me a little time to get use to it and I dont mind the slightly squared off edges.Virtualy no torking what so ever.  Much better than the stock grip.

How do you get the factory grip off? I pulled the screws but was afraid to pry to much cause i dnt want to pull off the finish. Am i missing something?

I took a thin screw driver and pried right at the bottom of the grip at the back of the riser.  Once you get it loose from right at the first little bit it pops right off.

yep,same here. i used a thin flathead screw driver covered with electric tape and poped mine off.
