Bow scabbard
« on: April 21, 2011, 11:09:05 AM »
So i've rifle hunted the last 10 yrs and have been quite successful. In that time I aquired horses and exclusively pack in on all my hunts. Most of the time i'm at least ten miles past the nearest walkin gate and or trailhead. I was lucky enough to draw the multi season tag and am stoked to hunt during the bugle. Im looking for ways to pack a bow in on horses. I have seen bow scabbards but was wondering what the consensus on product or type would be. Are bow scabbards to bulky? What do most bow hunters do to get there bow in safe when packing in?

Thanks, all opinions are welcome :)

Get a take-down recurve or longbow and packing will be easy. As far as compounds I don't know.

I would check into the Blacks Creek Bow Scabbard...I work at an archery shop, and when it comes to the back country hunts, and customers looking for a bow scabbard, they always end up going with the Blacks Creek.  All the reviews we've had on it have been good, its very compact and made of a durable fabric.

I just carry my compound in my hand while I ride. It seams to be the safest way and your always ready just in case you come across an animal

With no location listed in your profile it's hard to know where to send you.  Wholesale Sports in Federal Way has one.  I don't remember any details, except it's green.
Hunt hard and shoot straight!
