remington cdl versus xcr II
« on: March 10, 2011, 09:39:42 PM »
Any big differences in accuracy?? I was looking at the abolt II browning long range with glass beded barrel,
but it may not become available for some time. Also, it may be beyond my budget.

As far as I'm told the only difference whatsoever is the trinite (??) coating on the outside of the barrel, as well as inside the action, strictly for extra resistance to corrosion due to the elements, ie. weather, water, etc. If you find that there is something different with the barrel or accuracy, let me know please. I just bought a 300 WSM in the Remington 700 XCR and haven't shot it yet. Good luck either way.

I bought a 300 RUM XCR II. It is a good quality rifle. However, I bought and turned it into "project 700" mainly because I hate the synthetic stocks and remington puts on their rifles (albeit their higher end lines that come with B&C stocks).Among the changes I did was buying an HS Precision stock and putting on a new Hart Barrel.

If I were to choose and knew that I would not alter it in anyway.. I would choose the Browning.

Curious to why you didn't just buy the SPS stainless for quite a bit less money since all you're using out of your XCR II is basically the action?

So far nobody has spoken up for the CDL.

As far as the Browning goes, I do not know and nobody I have talked to knows when the Browning will be on store shelves.

I orginally had no intention of turning it into a project.. it just turned out that way. Glad I did though :)
