So the choice is harder for you addicted.... Buy a Hilux OR a Samuri?  and then bring the toy home with you.  ;)
In archery we have something like the way of the superior man. When the archer misses the center of the target, he turns round and seeks for the cause of his failure in himself.

I wouldnt buy a samarai. barely enough room for the dogs and the wife, let alone gear. camping trip or hunting trip would be hell in that thing.

So the question might be how do we go about buying one of those diesel's  to stuff in our own zuke or yoda?

Went from a Ford with a 460 to a Ram with a Cummins.I loved that Ford but it just can't compete with the Dodge. Renton to Winthrop all around in the woods with 4 guys and gear and then back to Renton with a quarter tank of Diesel left. Awesome.

The sad thing is the technology is already here... However between the unions requiring motors being made here, and BS government regs we are stuck with less efficient gas motors...   :bash:

They have the engine and have tested it since 2007 or 2008 it is just that they aren't ready to release it yet. They say the market isn't ready for it. I think once Dodge, Toyota, Ford and Nissian release their diesels Chevy will release the baby Duramax. And it is a V-8 not a 6 cyl. It is about the size of the 6.2 L V-8 that they offer in the TrailerMax package. So it should bolt right in. Here is a link to a spied truck it has 6 lugs instead of the 1/2 5 lug. Here is the link http://www.leftlanenews.com/chevrolet-silverado-diesel.html      I can't wait til the release.

firefighter, thanks for pointing out it is an 8cyl, it is a 4.5L its called the duramax lmk it should be a great powerplant producing 310 hp and 520 lb·ft and will be avail in the 1500, h2 and suburban lines! currently the issues are with the urea injection system and getting the NOX levels low enough to pass EPA standards. its crazy how much lower they have to be for the light duty trucks.

Love the powerstroke.  I just got my second one I owned my first for 12 years.  I did have a few problems with it but overall for as long as I owned it I can honestly say it was a good vehicle.  If you are not pulling anything heavy the diesel is sort of a waste of power.  I pull a large boat and a heavy travel trailer and love the ability to keep up with traffic in the Rocky Mountain passes.  It never overheats and gets fair mileage compaired to gas guzzlers.  My brother-in-law has a beautiful V-10 F-250 but he get 6-8 miles a gallon pulling his big RV like when we went to Montana together.  They are a little cold blooded in the winter.  Has anyone found better luck with Cumming or Duramax in the winter?  Last year I had a problem with crappy tires and mud I could not keep the tires from spinning from the heavy torque.  I put new meaty mud tires on and hope it will be better.  If you are planning to pull anything heavy get a diesel.  the pulling power is unbelievable.  True you will probably not be winning many drag races with the thing.  BTY what is the best power up option for powerstroke?  Banks exhaust?  A newer chip?

KenP - Cold weather starting.
Plug your heater in.  Run it through a good quality timer, one that can handle what I think is 1600w that the heaters use.  Could be more, check.  Set the timer up to kick off 3+- hours before you leave in the morning a little longer if it gets really cold.  I even run mine through a good quality thermal cube after the timer that kicks on around 35* and kicks off at 45* so I'm not greasing the pocket of Puget Sound Energy.

KenP, 6x6in6 hit it on the head with plugging it in, some of the christmass tree light timers from home depot can handle the load just check other wise if we are talking below 35ish i always add some diesel power service "diesel 911" to my tank really helps the fuel move. if your having issues with keeping heat while going down the road get a cold weather bra for it will help just remember that is on, your temps will climb if it warms up out side. for power adders its depends on what year truck, if its a 6.4 or 6.7 then i would go with h+s performance they are the equvelent to what banks was in the late 90's(the best) other wise a good exhaust system is a great option(lots of manufaturers out there) if you get an H+S they come with digital gauges and a DPF delete option if you so wish. if you have a 6.0 i would not touch it, you said you had good luck with them so i would not jinx it if you do want to get soemthing for it i reccomend exhaust and an intake. if your lucky enough to have a 7.3L look at TS performance they will set you up with a custom 6 pos chip for what you have and want! good luck.
