Why can't they put a Cummins engine in front of an Allison tranny and stick it all in a SuperDuty chassis? Then you would have just about the perfect truck!

I voted for the powerstroke but its gotta be the 7.3 and since mine has a 6 speed manual, I don't have the tranny issues.

Loved my Powerstroke for the first tank of fuel, then I checked the mileage ......yikes!

Did some modification to my exhaust and added a smarty Jr.
 
I have a 2008 dodge Mega cab with the 6.7 cummins.
 
I was getting 14 MPG in town and 16 on the hiway.
My first tank of fuel with the changes was 18.2 in town and 22.7 on the hiway.
We will see how it tows.
I am puting gauges on it this weekend.

You must have done the deletes too to get that mpg jump, huh?
Did you get the POD kit too for adjust on the fly?

Yeah, i have the POD.
I ordered a 3 pillar gauge pod and the glowshift gauges (Pyro,Tranny temp, and Boost).
Everything i have read about them has been good. Except 1 bad review but the guy wouldn't say why he didn't like them. He just said they sucked.
Every other review i have found has been good. I have to install them this weekend. I am a little nervous about installing the pyro, but i will get over it.

I have the Smarty Jr. on my 6.7 Cummins too. Not a bad programmer for the money. Ive only used the pre programmed settings, haven't tried it on the fly yet. DPF/EGR deletes. I noticed a huge difference in mileage. I'm getting 19.5 on the freeway and 15.5 around town. My truck has a 6" lift and 37" Toyo MT's too though. Towing the camp trailer to turkey camp and a Kawasaki Grizzly, Yamaha 225 and whatever firewood I could stuff around it I averaged 13.5. Not too bad.

Those are good gauges.
Lots of grease on the drill bit and the tap too to minimize the amount of metal shavings that fall into exhaust manifold.

I've heard that the programmers have the best results on Automatics. has anyone used one with a stick? From what i've heard they don't make a big dent like they do with Autos???

I have one on my '05 Dodge 6 speed.
Not the Smarty jr but the Smarty S04 that was released in 2006.  I was a beta tester for the original software.
The shifting limits the 0-70 mph acceleration but that's not really any different than having  no programming.  Other than that, no real difference. 
I do try and pay attention more to throttle lift on the shifts and ease into the throttle on clutch engage when I do program it to the higher programing levels.  Just to simply to take care of the drive train, particularly the carrier and the u-joints.
95% of the time it sits on the lower hp and tq settings because the truck really only tows and is not a daily driver.

I have the 68RFE tranny. And so far i love the smarty Jr.
 
I used to have an 05 but i had the 48RE. I Missed the 05 untill i did the deletes and the programmer. I did a 4" turbo back exhaust, installed myself. It blew smoke like nobodies business. Then i found how to unplug the EGR. And the smoke quit.
It is a little noisier, but i like it.

I have an 05 that is a dedicated tow rig and that is 99% of its job. I also have a 4 door 03 that sees a lot of flatbed non trailer work. I cannot really think of when i needed more power, but always better fuel economy...

06 dodge, 6 speed, s&b intake, exhaust and superchips programmer.  get 14 mpg pulling 19,000 lbs, and plenty of power.  no complaints, except the darn price of diesel!

I get 12 at 26000GVW over the pass stock and 13 up and down the I 5 corridor... And yes diesel is too damn expensive!
