I have had an 05 CTD (pos) A 02 CTD (pos) A 94 ford f350 5sp psd went 300k great truck. I will never own another dodge product, I don't care about the cummins engine or whatever else is in that Chrystler pos. I would buy a 94-97 PSD F350 or a Duramax period.... IMO

rather be cummin(s) than strokin
catch it. kill it. cook it. eat it.
Forget the bear spray, use wasp killer. Concentrated delivery stream, 10X the product, and only $3.00 on sale.

How on earth is Ford rated so high? The haven't made a decent diesel since the 7.3. Both the 6.0 and 6.4 are pure disaster money pits. Look on the road and Dodge is out selling everyone by miles. I have owned both dodges and ford diesels, and have concluded at the price of buying diesel and oil changes, and the fact that they cost a lot more to purchase, its no longer cost effective to own one for me.

They are made for towing.. it may not be effective for most, but most people are into overkill. :twocents:

My "little" brother made a a hell of a score He bought a 96-97 Ford 7.3 4x4 F350 crewcab Stick 320k miles for $4300 and the guy took payments! It has the flywheel up grade and new injectors... The flywheel up grade did away with some kind of Rubber/synthetic bushing balancer that tended to get destroyed by the torque...

That would be a dual mass flywheel that went away for a better piece.  :)
I did the same thing on my former 97 PSD when it blew apart on me.

I agree that the 7.3 was the last good Ford diesel.  I have a 6.0 and it's an absolute piece of junk.  I love the truck around it but the motor is garbage.  But I'm pretty sure Ford still out sells Dodge in the truck department?  Aren't they like the #1 selling truck 30 years running?  That said.. I'm selling my Ford and buying a Dodge. haha

After reading ALL of the posts on diesels, and the complaints about mileage, I had to join in.  I've driving FORD diesel since 1986, and can't find room in my driveway for a Chevy or Dodge.  Although, the Dodge is second, and Chevy pulling in last (as usual), what most of you have said about mielage is directly related to differential gear ratios.  The Lower the number the better the mileage.  My  01 7.3 4wd supercab has 3.73 gears.  I generally get hiway mielage of 18-27, depending in the right foot position.  milelage started 22mpg on I-5, and improved some what as as the engine broke in.  Since it hit the 20,000 mile mark, NO babying.  It smokes tires really well, and no they aren't hi-way tread.  We get lots of snow and ice in the winter.  It is my daily driver, and I make quite a few trips to Vancouver.  Round trip 950 miles.  I drive it hard, but treat the maintaince with respect.  Stock was ok, but it's more fun now.
Mods are ok, and will increase mielage some, but gears make the mielage.
