A coyote at 780 with my 300 remington ultra mag. Now wait I know nobody will believe me. But I had 3 coyotes in a straight line walking away from me. i put my crosshairs 4 foot over the first coyote in the line and hit the middle coyote and rolled him. It was all luck.

Why didn't you just spin your turret to 780? :P

22-250:  503 yds.  three times in a row, the first one dropped him, the second two were just to see if I could do it consistently.   264 magnum: 525 and 547 yds.    270: 631 yds.  I have alot of open area on my property where I live.  Those are one shot confirmed kills with at least one witness on each except with the 22-250 no one was around last week when I did it.  Good job guys, some really nice shooting out there.

A little over 630 meters with a H&K 91.  One shot to the head, damn coyote never knew what hit him.  Shot a bunch of them from the porch at 350-450 yards with the old .300 Win Mag.  It sure makes a mess of them.

how much holdover do you have to use with the 300 win mag at 450?

1st coyote ever was also my farthest. 22-250 and PredatorPro says it was about 525 but I say it was at least 675 feet.  So in yards that would be 175 or 225!  :chuckle: Either way like I said before - for a westside'n city boy like me it was a lonnnnng ways out there!  :dunno:

yep! it aint to hard to find some decent sixed openings. a tough part for me is getting into a game unit without firearm restrictions. i live in the battle ground unit which restricts to a shotgun bow or muzzleloader. have to travel a ways into a unit where i can use a high powered rifle. anyone know any good places around brush prairie/ battle ground/ vancouver?

Battle Ground is where we are originally from. Go to Larch mountain. Some good shooting spots there.

Not me, but my pard I used to hunt Yotes with in Montana. Old farmer. 270 Winchester Model 70 with a post and cross hair scope. We were out on our favorite spot and he made a LONG shot on a yote, dropping it, and said it was a touch over 500 yards. I challenged him and went back to the farm to get a steel 100 yard tape we had. 513 yards. I told him it was a fluke. He had me put one of the SMALL juice cans on a fence post and he took it off with one shot at 400 yards. Never challenged him again.
This was back in the 70's when we were getting good money for pelts. We would drag any dead cow or other critter into the middle of a couple of different fields, and head back in the morning to pop a few. We could usually get two shots off before they would zero in on where we were and bolt. Dang that was fun times!
Cuterebra are NOT cute!

Well I set a new personal long distance this last Sunday out hunting with PredatorPro.  :IBCOOL: I shot a dog on the side of a canyon with my Howa Axiom 22-250 and he ranged in my finder at about 228-235 or so. OK - not a world record, but again to that I say for a westside'n city boy like me, its a lonnng ways out! :chuckle: I didnt check the range until after I dropped him - PP just said aim at his front shoulder & shoot!  So I just ranged from the general area I was sitting when P-Pro hiked up there to get him. I am quite confident he was out there at least 230. I'll post some pics and a story on a new thread in the next day or two.

With my Remington 700 SPS Ruger .204 Hornady 40gr ballistic tip, regularly shoot them over 400. I have zeroed in at 278 yards, which is my no-hold max distance (meaning anything between 0-287 I don't change my hold because the rise and drop are all within kill area.) At 400 yards -4.8", 500 yards -12.5". I have put well over a thousand rounds through it in 4 years, most of which are practice.

My personal best shot on a coyote was with this gun at 550 yards, standing, offhand. My wife was with me and let me out of the rig while driving to another stand when we saw it. I didn't really think I had hit it, but never saw it running off so I had to go check. Sure enough it was hammered right behind the shoulders and spun it to the ground. The only way my bushnell 800 yardage pro could range the distance was ranging the vehicle back at the road after finding it in the tall brush.

My best friend hit one, just after we were out of high school that we paced off at around 1000 yards. It was snowy conditions, we saw it, there was no getting closer to it over the wide open area so we started popping rounds off. Not knowing anything about shooting back then, I was only holding maybe 3 feet over, so obviously I never came close (and with a .300 savage none-the-less). My friend was shooting a .243 and said he was lining the coyote up and raising the scope until its back was at the bottom of the scope. This was about his 3rd shot. We knew we were close because he started getting nervous, but couldn't tell where we were with all the fresh falling snow absorbing the sound. On his third shot the dog started sitting down and biting its rear end. The snow was well over knee deep so I walked back to the rig while he went to check for a hit. about 2 hours later he came walking back up the road with a dead dog, and I was stunned beyond belief. I simply said "There's no way we hit that dog." He replied, "One of us did. I found him over the hill sitting under a tree biting his foot and finished him off." He then held up the hind foot in question showing me the perfectly shot-off toe.
"And we know that God causes everything to work together for the good of those who love God and are called according to his purpose for them" Romans 8:28~
