Here is a little 3 point BT shed I found last winter or the winter before.  I was actually looking for the other side of this elk shed I found while scouting the summer before.  No luck on the elk shed, but the BT shed was a good bonus.

I have spent very little time actually looking specifically for sheds on the west side.  That said, I have found a fair amount of them, almost all while scouting.  When I'm scouting I walk nearly every game trail in my perspective area to try and get a feel for the major travel routes, bedding areas, etc.  If you start doing this and keep your eye out for sheds, you'll find some!

It's funny you ask that, I have not had much luck except for one year I found 4. One real nice 2 point with 2" eye guards then my buddy told me to quit spending so much time looking at the ground and look for deer. My son likes to try to rattle in deer in the back yard with them (no luck yet). But other than that I have only found a few elk sheds on the east side. I think it is just way to thick with brush to find a lot of them, at least for me.

I figure I find one blacktail shed for every 7-8 miles of hiking, and I'm hiking in areas that I know bucks winter and shed in. If your the kind of person who is easily discouraged you had better find another hobby ;)

I found numbers 35,36 and 37 for the year today but i bet I have spent close to 60 hours in the woods in the last month to find them. It has taken me year (like20) to figure out the best spots to look so that I am not wasting my time while out there. The new lab is helping a lot this year tho she's probably found ten or so that I know I would not have found without her.

You just gotta put the miles on to find the black tails. Not as many bucks as on the eastside hell not as many deer as on the eastside lol. I find all of mine while looking for elk sheds. I try not to even waste my time looking for them.

I have found 2 2points and 1 3point blacktail sheds so far this year and 1 5point bull shed and ive only been out 3 times so far.I just cover as much ground as I can in an area where I know there are bucks at.I also look at the deer i see real close to see if its a doe or a buck that has dropped.if its a buck then i look around where it was and see if i can find them.

Most of the sheds I find on the west side are Elk, deer are far and few between.

here's my biggest to date.

I have pics but I don't want to post them on here a lot of them have backgrounds that could give the area away.  I was planning on posting a pic at the end of the month with all of them together.
