Scope Recomendations
« on: March 10, 2011, 11:38:46 AM »
I have a 243 Savage that I like to use for Mule deer hunting on the East Side. It came with a scope and to be honest I don't even see a name brand on the thing, its pretty low end I think. I would like to get some recommendations on a new Scope for it that would be mid range in price.

Look at Cabelas online. They have the Bushnell 4200 3-9x40 right now for $199. I don't believe any other retailers have any left. It's a discontinued model that just a couple months ago was selling for $300. Even at that price it was a bargain for the quality you get. I bought one and if I had the money I'd order three or four more just to have on hand.

One of the nice features they have is what they call "Rain Guard". It's a coating on the lenses that prevents the scope from becoming too wet or fogged up from rain that you can't see through it.

hmmm...depends on what you call "mid priced".  Some people on this site will tell you that a $700 scope is "mid priced", others will say that $300 is expensive glass.
What's your price range..?

Depending on your price range, I'd pick the best Leupold you can afford.  You will not be disappointed and have a lifetime warranty that they honor well. :twocents:

Fall City Firearms had a pile of Leupold VX-1 3-9x40 for $219 at their grand opening a week or 2 ago. They said that was $30 cheaper than Cabelas.

Nikon buck master is a good scope for the price you pay.
