Little birdy told me a few days ago that they are going to do an increase on Spring Bear Permits for next year.  Mostly on the East Side and a Few on the West side.  I have not confirmed what the little Birdy told me.  :)
I think it says that in the huntin regs too! lol!

It does show one new eastside hunt with 4 permits for this year.

That is true, but the westside areas will based on damage which means they will go away when the damage goes away. They are also looking to include more timber companies and state lands when possible.

If that is true, this will probably be the last season for Lincoln, as WH only reported damage once during season (although I found plenty, and increasing as the season ended) and that was not in the open area......

The season would still happen for the 3 year cycle. You also have to account for the bears killed by hound hunters and the damage that happened but was not reported. The issues with the Lincoln unit are being considered when opening the new westside units, but the timber companies still have a say.

According to what D. Martorello told me, they were not allowed more than 3 permits, so unless someone  "cheated" or damage not reported (would be the same as not happening, because if they did not report...)

According to the worker selling coffee in the morning at my local 76 station, the hound hunters were hunting near Doty, so outside permit area.
But then again, I don't believe everything I hear.
I just hope that I get another chance to hunt Spring Bear in my spot, before it is no longer available, but hopefully there will be more Cascara this year and I can get one in August...  :dunno:

No application from me either this year, but I still like seeing who got drawn and what they shoot!! Maybe one of these years when I have a real job I can draw a spring bear permit.
