Hey Yelp, question on the squealing hen

I'll be 61 in a couple of months and am a lifelong turkey hunter. I have never, ever heard a hen turkey make a sound like comes from that call. I use a lot of Hunter Specialties® products, Blinds & Ring Zone® calls. I'm not trying to insult anyone, but I feel that call is a total waste of money.

Saw them on sale at Cabelas today. Tempted to give it a try, but thought I would sound like the guy I kept hearing running through the woods with the peacock call last year. I was beginning to think I was off in the tropics hunting. Wouldn't that sound great in the woods this year, A peacock screaming and a unhappily mounted hen.

The way it squeels in the video, I could see it working well for that. Have you called anythingin with it? How is the snow out there? Going to be out at the cabin next Wed. or Thursday.

Haven't called anything in with it, yet. Been kinda dry for dogs. The snow is melting pretty fast but still deep and very muddy on alot of roads. Been nearly 45-50 now. I'll be home next Wed or Thursday. In fact I'm home all the time.

Not that my opinion means anything but in 30 yrs of turkey hunting  easterns merriams and Rio I never ever heard a hen make that sound and last year we tried three different times and every time the gobbler took off running so I say no to this call....you want to kill more turkeys early in the season call loud and aggressive but  ;)most guys think call softly and not that I do not but early on I call loud and having 2 or more callers will seriously hurt the turkey population and I AM GETTING OLD BECAUSE I never share info when it comes to turkey hunting... good luck and let me know how it goes !!!!!

I always start soft and then let the tom dictate if I get louder or not ....
