Nikon Monarch 10*42

I'm nearly decided to buy the Nikon Monarch 10*42 binoculars.  They are $320 at Cabelas.  Anyone have these?  Are they worth the $320?  Is there a better choice in that price range?

I have a pair and I love them! For the price and the warranty they are well worth it in my opinion! I found mine in the bargain cave so if your not in a hurry to get a pair and you live near a Cabelas i would just stop in there every so often and check. They are great optics at a good price!

I also like mine. The only thing that is frustrating is the adjustable eye cups. I have sent them in twice to get them repaired.

Great glass for the money, I love mine. Never had any problems with they eye cups but have heard they are a weakness. I would buy them again if that helps though.

They are good glass for the money but the eye cups suck.  They are really really uncomfortable.  If you can get passed that then they are really good glass.  But if you can't I'd look at the Vortex Diamondbacks.  I thought those were better optically than the Nikons and the eyecups felt great.  My Dad and brother both have them and love them.

But that is my opinion not yours.  So I'd go back to Cabelas and look through ALL the binos in your price range and decide which one you like the best.  Because its your eyes and fit that matters most.

Yep you can get the Dielectic Coated kind here for $299.99  The Diamondback is $229.00  And you can get the Vortex Viper's for $349.99 which blow both these binos out of the water.  Go to Cabelas and compare binos and see which ones you like the best.  Then go to Camera Land and buy them for way cheaper.

You should really try the Zen-Ray ZRS HD 10x42. It has dielectric prism coating as the newer Monarch. But its field of view is much wider thant the Nikon.  Plus the body is made of Magnesium alloy, comparing to plastic body used by Monarch or Diamondback.  I took them to wholesale sports to compare. The ZRS HD is no doubt better than Monarch. I think the Viper and ZRS HD are very similar in many ways.  You cannot go wrong with either one.

Nikon has a great warranty on the Monarch binoculars. I had a little mishap, and got the lens scratched while hunting and they sent me a new set free of charge; no questions asked. The glass on these binoculars is real good too. I could not complain about their product or service.

Vortex makes a good product. I have one of their rifle scopes.

I have not tried the ZRS HD binoculars but their products are also good. I have the Ridgefield spotting scope.

I have the 10x56 monarchs and are great binos very clear all the way to the edges and they have a great warranty have never had to use it but wat i have heard from people who have is good

I have a pair....  solid built but the glass is so so...

frankly, have had just as good $50 cheapos as far as glass...

Ive heard good about the Zen Rays, but have not tried them yet... supposedly an incredible deal, but too good to be true???

I recommended a buddy by the 12X42 Nikons and I've used them alot... I love them... I've also use the 8X42's a fair bit (FIL has them) and love them. I have a pair of Zeiss 8X30's and I cannot tell any difference except that the Nikons are heavier and about $300 cheaper....

I have a pair of the 10x42's. I like them, but the eye cups are prone to breaking. Mine are sitting on the table ready to ship back to Nikon to replace the eye cup. I think it would be much easier if they would just sell the eyecups so I could replace them and not be without glass for 3-5 weeks. I mentioned to my wife I want the Zen Ray ED2's for my birthday. If i get them I will let you know how they compare to the monarchs.
