TRB, I love the Williams WGRS series of peep sight. The site is clean rugged and will also accept the Williams ghost ring firesite if you so choose. I have used the Williams for years and have never had an issue with one  :twocents:

I sighted mine in with 95 gr's of 777 and a 300 gr hornady sst it was awesome on that note tho,I've been reading on here all the praises of the 290 gr barnes spitfire and 100 grs of 777 and i listend to wancenturin
about peep sites SOOOOOOO I put a williams sight on and then bought some barnes bullets then had shoulder surgery last yr which ended any chance of sighting in a new sight and load :( :( :( and crappy weather  :( :( :bash: :bash: so I'm really looking forward to sighting it in with my peep sight and see what happens.

I was shooting a 3" group at a 100 with the sst's should do better with a peep sight( I hope ) cus its getting hard to see the sights( I'm old),you need to realise i was using a lead sled when i sighted my gun in before cus I'm def. not that good a shot off hand.

I have been looking for a peep sight for my new bighorn (which i don't even have yet) and I can't find any williams wgrs sights that say they fit the bighorn. They are alot that say disc or legend, but no bighorn. Which model should I order. Also, Does anyone shoot the FP peep sight? seems easier to adjust, but bulky. Does williams make either in silver or stainless to match my barrel?

Mike,   I called the Williams factory and spoke to the tech guy.  He says that for the Bighorn you need to order the wgrs Legend sight.  It comes with one aperature.   He personally said that in low light situations he will unscrew the aperature and just shoot through the hole.   I have read that others on this forumn do the same.   The ghost ring is a separate  sight that offers a bigger hole to look through all the time.  You may know that but I was not clear from their web page so I asked.   With shipping it was like 45.oo total.   Thank you everybody for your kind replies.

If you had followed the link above..it would have taken you to this link.  Scroll down to my post with picture of the sight and where to get it.  You won't find it cheaper anywhere and you can get it in blue or silver to match your barrel.

Wacenturian,  Thanks, I probably should have followed your advice after looking more closely.  It seems that the sight that you linked was the williams fps series rather than the wgrs series.   From the factory the fps series was in the $80 range and the wgrs was in the $40 range which I purchased.  The site you linked was an amazing $37.   Now they are both made by williams but what is better about the fps?   It looks like it is a little bulkier and has more adjustment thingys  and it can come in stainless.  Any performance differences?  Maybe I can cancel my transaction from williams and go to that site.   thanks for the help.

The FPS is click adjustable for elevation and windage. The WGRS series is adjusted by loosening a set screw and sliding the aperture. Settings on the FPS are easily repeatable, on the WGRS, not so much. Is it worth $40 for this feature? I think so, can't answer for you. Try Mid South Shooters supply Natchez Midway, heck almost all of the on-line retailers beat manufactures list price. The Williams and Lyman apertures are interchangeable, I really like Lyman sights, I'm not sure what they have that will fit your application.

I use the Williams FP peep sight on my MK85 and the Big Horn...

The FP is a very good peep site and has 1/4" clicks for both windage and elevation.

The front sight is a Williams fiber optic bead and not shown in the picture I have added hood that is open at the top to light up the front bead.

I will try to get a picture posted with the hood...

Here are some more pics of the set-up

Forgot to mention loads...

This target might give you thought...

I believe the Lehigh bullet is one the bullets bullets on the market.  Of course I think they are a step above Nosler Partition and the Barnes offering.

If you do not want to pay for the premium bullet and in this day and age, i would suggest you look at the Speer .452/300 gr. Deep Curl/Gold Dot. Bonded bullet with controlled Expansion... BC .233

I vote for the Barnes TMZ.  Absolutely devastating on game!  Proven over and over again.  I don't have a pic of the 250gr TMZ I recovered from my bull elk last year but it was perfectly mushroomed on the opposite side with a double lung shot at about 100yds.  The bull went nowhere!

I use 100grs of T7 FFG and a CCI #11 mag primer.  I put a Williams Ghost Ring Aperture on my rear sight and love it for hunting.

This was 3 shots at 100 yds shooting off my Stoney Point Rapid Pivot bipod.  I pulled a bit on the 3rd shot but the TMZ is very accurate.

Here are some I dug out of the bank behind my target.  This was hard packed dirt too.

Hey Sabotloader,

What is the part number for the front ramp and fiberoptic?  I can't find anything that says will fit my Bighorn

Just second let me call Williams and see if I can come up with those numbers.... Just tried to get ahold of Steve at Williams - could not get through but left a mesaage and he should return the call.

When I get the information I will post it here...

I like the hooded front.  protects the fiber optic.

I bought the WGRS legend first, and did not like the slide type adjustment.  Bought the FP legend, and it works great.

(anyone need a WRGS legend)

I like the hooded front.  protects the fiber optic.

That is exactly why i got the hood but even better when you look down through the front sight it offers a 'Globe Sight' look the makes it very easy for the eye to center on the target.... almost looks like a scope view.

I really dis-like the slide-glide and guess type rear sights.  The FP offers 1/4 minute clicks and is much easier to dail in.

OK Steve just returned my call....

You need a 3/16" Streamlinded ramp... #1690 Williams Streamlined ramp (it comes hoodless) then you need a #56436 .375 Narrow Rifle Bead and to finish a #70031 Fire Sight Hood for Williams Streamlied Ramp.

Also should tell you that you can get the FP sight from Numrich a lot cheaper than anywhere else... they are trying to move old stock

Any questions you can also call Williams (1 800 530-9028) then extension #228 and talk or order from Steve the parts you need.  You normally can find the parts cheaper at an online retail outfit but by the time you pay their shipping it is less expensive to get directly from Williams.

Would you go silver on the peep? I just bought a bighorn (still waiting on it) and I can't think of any reason not to match the stainless barrel.

The only thing.... is that the shades of stainless may and probably will not match, that is why I go the opposite and contrast... And on the other hand they could be really close....

I hunt with my stainless rifle, and I spray paint the barrel a matt black anyway.  I like stainless for the cleaning/maintaining features.

So i'm really thinking about buying that same front sight setup...but before i do i figure I better ask if that required any drilling. that back screw seems awefully far back to be pre-drilled. Sabotloader...if you could get back to me I'd appreciate it. Thanks
